Health Update

Glenn continues to improve! He is working full-time, walking over a mile each day, taking his "power naps" and sleeping well each night. He's been declared "pneumonia free," but still has a slight cough from the inflamed bronchial tubes. This should heal with the medication he is taking at this time. He begins a 12-week program at the LifeCenter beginning in April.

We continue to praise the Lord for His goodness and healing power! We are very grateful for the outpouring of love from friends in so many ways, and are in awe (and humbled) by the many cards, calls, meals, and financial gifts that have been showered upon us.

Praise the Lord for a good report on Friday from both the cardiologist and the surgeon! Each one is pleased with the stability of the heart and both remarked about the strength of each beat. They won't be able to determine the outcome of the "enlarged heart" for six months. (They just about did a "celebration step" when they observed his condition, color and vitality.) We praise the Lord for answering the prayers of many faithful folks; thank you for having a part in His miraculous work! The infection (pneumonia) seems to be responding to the medication. Although Glenn's coughing continues, we're thankful for the improvement.

Glenn is progressing well since his surgery on January 29. However, on Monday, February 11, Glenn was diagnosed with pneumonia. The bacteria was "dormant" prior to surgery. He was given an antibiotic in the hospital, but the infection had already further compromised his system. He's now on large doses of antibiotic and Prednisone. Today (Saturday) he is improving and moving in the right direction. He is walking and has been out enjoying more than the "four walls."

Glenn and Jan appreciate your prayers, cards, calls, meals, e-mails and concerns. The Lord is good, and we have been greatly blessed and encouraged by the love of family and friends. We feel immensely blessed and are rejoicing in His healing and care!

Praise the Lord - Glenn is home from the hospital! The doctors were very pleased with his progress and released him to go home and rest on Monday. Glenn does have a bacterial infection in his lungs that was there prior to surgery. Although the doctor has lifted the visitor restrictions, he is concerned that Glenn not be exposed to any flu-like symptoms that are going around at this time.

Thank you for your prayer and concern. They are much appreciated.

Glenn continues to improve and speed on to recovery! The nurses have had him up walking since Thursday. Thursday night he was able to get more rest than the night before, so we are very thankful for that. The unit he is in is still requesting that visitors be kept to a minimum at this time.

Thank you so much for all of your prayers! We appreciate it so much!

Glenn made much progress today and was moved from the Coronary Care Unit to the Critical Care Unit. His color is good, and although he was in quite a bit of pain today, he was doing very well. All of his tubes and IVs have been removed, which is a praise. The doctor is very happy with his progress. Visitors are still very limited because of the unit he is in and because he needs lots of rest right now.

Thank you again for all of your prayers. Please continue to uphold Glenn and Jan.

Praise the Lord! We are happy to report that Glenn's surgery went very well today. He ended up having a quadruple bypass and is doing very well. The medical staff was amazed by how quickly he bounced back afterward--they were even able to remove the ventilator this afternoon. He was alert and talking. We know this is due to the prayers of all those who have prayed so faithfully for Glenn, and we rejoice in God's goodness. Glenn is currently in CCU, and we hope to have an update tomorrow on how long he will be there and where he goes next. We will keep you updated as to how he is feeling and when he can have visitors.

Thanks again for your prayers! We know the Lord is watching over Glenn and Jan.

Glenn was recently diagnosed with "severe blockage" in all his arteries; the cardiologist was unable to put in stents during a heart catheterization on January 11 and requested immediate surgery. The surgeon selected was away for a conference, so open heart surgery is scheduled for tomorrow, January 29th at 8 am.

Glenn's heart is also enlarged, which adds more risk to the entire procedure. The surgeon is amazed that Glenn is doing so well (active, good color, etc.) and hasn't had any other problems (stroke or heart attack). He has been having pains, but has been taking some nitroglycerin tablets to help for the time-being.

We've seen the Lord's protection, as the doctor thinks Glenn has had this heart condition for over two years!
